Alpine skiing
In Vemdalen you can explore three ski areas: Björnrike, Vemdalsskalet and Klövsjö/ Storhogna. Skiing here you’ll find yourself in real fells with great verticals. Vemdalen is snowsure – you can set off onto the slopes already in November.
Because of its high situation in metres above sea level, the inland climate and a powerful snow cannon system, Vemdalen is a highly snowsure ski destination. The three ski areas Björnrike, Vemdalsskalet and Klövsjö/Storhogna can satisfy the wishes of everyone who loves skiing. The skiing area has grown over the past few years with the addition of six new six-seater express chairlifts and various new pistes, all of them operated and maintained by SkiStar.
The opening hours vary over the season but you will find today’s hours here. All three ski areas offer night skiing in addition to daytime.
Vemdalen’s SkiPass is valid in all the three ski areas: Vemdalsskalet, Björnrike and Klövsjö/Storhogna. The easiest way to buy your SkiPass is online at Skistar’s web site or with Gästservice in anyone of the ski areas. Prices and the SkiPass outlets.
Snöpendeln/Local bus service
Snöpendeln is Vemdalen’s local bus service running according to timetable during the lifts’ opening hours in the daytime; however not during night skiing. Snöpendeln services Röjan station, Klövsjö Village, Klövsjö ski area, Storhogna, Vargens Värdshus, Vemdalsskalet, Skalspasset/Pass Express, Vemdalen Village, Ekbergs, Björnvallen/Grizzly Express, Björnidet and Björnrike Centrat. Ski schools
Improving the technique results in even greater skiing experiences; the ski schools in Vemdalen offer private lessons as well as fun group tutoring. The options of classes range from alpine and cross-country skiing, to snowboard and Telemark for all categories of skiers – from novices to advanced, both in the form of private lessons and group sessions. You can also book a private trainer for a few hours or a full day. Ski school lessons are available from age 3 years and in all the three ski areas. Kids’ ski school
Lessons for beginners and pros, in Vemdalen’s children’s ski schools there are always fun things to learn. The kids’ ski schools are available throughout the winter season, from age 3 years, and in all three ski areas. The lessons are available for either alpine or cross-country skiing. You can book your lessons and hire equipment here.
Storhogna offers ski school lessons in alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboard and Telemark for all categories of skiers/boarders; from novices to advanced riders, in the form of private lessons or group technique sessions. The instructions will help you reach the next level of skiing. Children will have great fun during Plupp’s group skiing lessons. The groups are kept small, ensuring close contact between the children and the instructors, making of these lessons safe and fun sessions.
